After a bit of a diversion at the start of the day, with the petrol station near Stamford Bridge up in flames, and the road closed off, chronicle article. The 6 cars met up and drove to Uttoxeter racecourse for the final British Mini Club club show for this year. Our 7th car met up with us at the grounds shortly afterwards. The stand was up, the cars parked, the day dry what else could you ask for? sleep perhaps for the 2 members who came straight to the show after working a night shift? The show seemed less busy this year, than previous years…Cost of living these days perhaps? But still plenty of Minis to see from club stands to individual drivers, and even a classic mini 4×4
Russ Swift gathered a good crowd of people for his stunt driving show, and hats off to the 2 people who donated £130 each to charity for a dance with Swift in the BMW Mini.
The day was finished off nicely with a stop off at The Chetwode Arms in Pipe Gate, where their carvery was enjoyed by us all, and a few had the puddings. How was the Baileys covered ice cream Julie and Vicky? The hospitality shown there was fantastic, and will be visited again by Wirral Minis sometime in the future.
